  • I download these where you can start and stop at your leisure and rewind until you get the hang of the technique, hope this helps you in some way. Parts are speedy to get through the whole project in a timely manner. Good luck and keep trying, its worth the effort.

  • Thanks, it's worth a try. Maybe I'll try downloading, then finding a way to slow the video way down myself.

  • Thanks so much for showing and talking me through this. I watched 10 viedos trying to learn how to make granny squares, none of them made since for me. This one I was able to learn and follow along without difficulties. Thanks for making this easy to learn!!

  • hi I love your video and your voice too great I have made a bag using your squares I am very proud of it thankyou so much keep it up xxxxx Julie-ann

  • Great video! I barely knew how to do a double crochet stitch when I started watching this, now I've made a complete square. I feel like a pro now πŸ˜‰

  • Love your tutorials, I have learned a lot from you! Thank you so much!
My problem is my yarn separates, as I am crocheting. It seems like I am always catching a strand when I crochet. Do you have any ideas or a certain technique on how you hold your hook to prevent this from happening?

  • will it look bad if i use multi- colored yarn and do continuous squares as opposed to using two+ separate colors?

  • Mikey I truly love your video's and learned a great deal from you since you do them so well. I do have one grip I'm sorry to say. I had made all my squares and followed your way of finishing them off. However I had wanted to seam them together and now I have to undue the final endings, since I won't be able see the front and back loop of each stitch . If only when I finished them I knew to bring the yarn into one loop of the stitch would have made the project a lot easier.
    Still a huge fan

  • Thanks for this great educational video. I have a pattern for a vintage crochet cardigan shrug that has panels of vintage granny squares at the front. I'm trying to teach myself these stitches. This has been very helpful. Thank you very much!:)

  • Hi, Mikey is using a J sz hook for this tutorial….Back when Mikey learned how to crochet he was taught to always count the stitch on the hook after a sl knot as one, later he learned that you should never count the chain on you hook after the sl knot as one….he is just reminding people of this when he says that because some of his older videos give the wrong information …[email protected] The Crochet Crowd:)

  • Thank you for your videos!! I've been wanting to take up crocheting again and can't because my Mammaw lives so far away. She tried to teach me as a teen, but all I ever ended up with was a 10 ft chain lol!!! I'm so happy you made these step by step videos. I've always wanted to make a granny square afghan and now I'll be able to make one with your help!! Thank you!!!

  • I never thought a guy can crochet! I want to thank you for the very clear and easy explanation on how to make a granny square with a circle in the middle. It's very easy! Thank you from Argentina!

  • Mikey. Is there a video of u teaching how to make a mile a minute crochet? All the videos on here are confusing to me!

  • I love watching Mikey Sellick's tutorials. He is so clear and so easy to follow. I have learned so much from him. Way to go Mikey!

  • I'm going to be using this tutorial to make my cousin a baby blanket. Now to find the tutorial on how to stitch the granny squares together…

  • If I use a different yarn – something not "chunky", rather thinner but "softer" – do I still use 16 to make the wheel section?

  • WOW!Β  I just made my first granny square…I just want to know how many granny squares is needed to make an afghan…thanks!

  • This is amazingly easy to follow. Β I have recently joined our Church craft group and, although several people have been trying to teach me to make these circles, this is the only lesson that's worked! Β Is there any way to download these tutorials as we don't have internet in our Church? Β By the way, thank you for such an easy to understand lesson…

  • Love the granny square afghan. Β I made one of these right after I tought myself how to crochet. Β I gave it to my mother as a gift and she loved it. Β My daughter has it now since my mother is no longer with us. Β I love getting emails from the Crochet Croud.

  • Well that was bloody awesome! Thank you!! Finally someone I can follow along with and it actually looks like it's supposed to at the end! πŸ™‚ I have a traumatic brain injury from an accident which makes it hard for me to follow instructions but this was very clear and concise!Β

  • tried to start the circle and you didn't explain how to hide the extra piece of yarn from the beginning. also, you didn't show which stitch to put the hook through. very disappointed. Β

  • Mickey…..you have taught me so much. Β I've been crocheting and knitting since I've been 10 years old. Β I am now 63. Β You never stop learning. Β I am now going to use you (hope that you don't mind) to help teach my 10 year old granddaughter. Β Then when she has questions when I'm not there, she can get online and learn from the best. Β And …. YOU ARE THE BEST. Β Thanks for teaching me new techniques. Β

  • wow!! your's is the first tutorial I've found, that I can actually understand and follow – thank you so much for taking the time to teach us newbies what we need to know, to crochet correctly – you don't take it for granted that we will know how to do something, like how to hold the work correctly and work the tail into the rest of the work etc – no one else on youtube has explained this stuff so far, except you ! Β thank you thank you thank you xx

  • just one question,…at the 7.00min point where you end the green yarn, it seems you are pulling the previous stitch out – or am I just seeing things ? Β I'm not terribly good at picking things up, so if you could explain what you did again, that would be great ! thank you so much…..

  • my question is once i get all my square together how do i turn them into a blanket. im going for a checkered look. and how many squares should i make?

  • Will the circle centre work for making a large granny square blanket, instead of joining smaller squares?Β  great tutorial, thank you

  • Really i've watched so many YouTube videos on how to crochet and kept failing. I really was going to give up. But a friend of mine and her mother told me not to give up, that ill get it. I thought to my self…Melissa you have mastered almost every craft you can do this too. So i YouTubed again and i found your videos. Wow you are a great teacher, really you are. Because of your teaching i got it.
Your hand movements are really clear to see unlike some who go to fast or talk to much. Im a hands on learner and i need to see how its done to process it and do it.
Great job! Keep up the great work thank you soooo much for teaching me. I really appreciate it!

  • Thank you! I was miserably failing at granny squares and now following your tutorials they are coming out BEAUTIFULLY!Β

  • Love your videos Mike, your clear get to it approach is so easy to listen to, I learned to crochet from your videos and I've made so many Afghan blankets in so many designs for all the family. Thank you for being such a good teacher.

  • Hey thank you, I made my first granny square with your tutorial. I have to see something multiple times, so I paused your video and replayed it until I could understand each step. I love this its so much better than taking a class where I would have to ask for things to be repeated multiple times, that is always so embarrasing! This was a very enjoyable way for me to learn!
