Crochet Baby Dress 0-6 months Bag o day Crochet Tutorial #375 Subtitles Available in 21 languages


hi everybody this is crystal today I’m
gonna show you how to make this baby dress here it’s probably size zero to
six months it’s really not hard it’s made with kind of a V shell stitch
looking things but it’s a really easy pattern repeat in addition to things I
said that you needed in the beginning you’re also going to need this a ribbon
if you want to put it on it’s just eighth inch in size that’s optional you
don’t even have to put that on if you don’t want to but let’s going to get
started on it okay for this project I am using Caron
simply soft which is a medium four weight 100% acrylic you don’t have to use this
yarn any type of four weight yarn will do I would just want to make sure it’s a
little on the softer side for a baby and the color I’m using is strawberry for
the main part of the dress and then I have a scene of off-white which I’ll be
using for some trim but of course you can make it any color that you want and 315 yards and the skein and this skein
will be enough to do a dress and I’m going to be using a size H which is a
five millimeter crochet hook and then this is optional I’ll probably putting a
ribbon rose on mine you can get these at Walmart and Isle where they have the
rules of ribbon you don’t have to put that on if you don’t want and then
you’re going to need for the back some type of closure I’m going to use if I
can pick it up a hook and eye closure and you just sew these on with a regular
thread and needle to the back one on one side and one on the other and then I
hook together and you could probably use a little button too if you didn’t have
this okay you want to start out with a chain of fifty once you get your chain
of fifty done we’re going to do one double crochet in the fourth stitch from
the hook and remember we don’t count the one that’s on our hook
so one two three four double crochet in that fourth stitch and now we’re going
to put one double crochet in every stitch for the length of the chain just like that one double in every
stitch until you get to the end okay once you make it to the end of Row 1 you
should have a total of 48 stitches and that is counting this little chain here
on the end that’s counting as a stitch so counting this one you should have a
row of for a total of 48 at the end of Row 1 now what we’re going to do is
chain 3 and turn our work now that chain 3 counts as a double crochet so now
we’re going to put one double crochet into the next stitch so it’s not this
one right here but it’s this one so one double crochet into this stitch so what
we have now count in this chain 3 is two double crochets in a row now the next
stitch we’re going to put two double crochets into the same stitch and that’s
our increased stitch like that and now we’re going to put one double crochet in
each of the next two stitches so there’s one and two and now the next stitch is
going to get two double crochets into the same stitch we’re just going to
repeat that pattern all the way to the end of the row one double crochet into
the next two stitches one and one into the next and then two double crochets
into the next so it’s one double one double two one double one double two
until you get all the way to the end of the row okay I’m coming to the end of
row two and I did two double crochets and then I did my repeat again I got one
double one double and my last stitch is going to read this
chain right here and it should have two double crochets in it so you just go
kind of go right in the top of that chain there and put two double crochets
into that last stitch now for Row three we’re going to chain three and turn our
work and that chain three again counts as our first double crochet so
now we’re going to put one double crochet in each of the next two stitches
starting with this one right here so I’m going to yarn over and go into this one
right here and then I’m going to go into the next one and put one double crochet
so counting that chain three that we did we have three double crochets in a row
and now we’re going to put two double crochets into the next stitch and that’s
the repeat now this time around it is one double crochet in each of the next
three stitches so there’s one one in the next one in the next so that was three
double crochets in the row and then two double crochets into the next stitch 1
double crochet in each of the next three stitches and then two double crochets into the
next and now we’re just going to repeat that to the end of the row so it’s three
double crochets in a row and then two double crochets into the same stitch and
we repeat that all the way to the end of row three okay I’m coming to the end of
row three and my last stitch is going to be this chain three and it’s going to
get two double crochets into that last into the top of the chain just kind of
go right into the top of it and work two double crochets in it and you should
have a total of 80 stitches now at the end of row three now what we’re going to
do is we’re going to connect our piece so kind of put your work out like this
and we’re just going to slip stitch right over here into the top of this
chain three right into the top of it just like that so now our work is
connected now for Round four what we’re going to do is chain three and we’re
going to turn our work that way our rows are keep going back and forth like we
started so the appearance doesn’t look different so we just turn our work now now we’re going to put one double
crochet into the next three stitches so starting with this first one here three so counting those three plus that
chain three there’s four double crochets in a row and now I’m going to put two
double crochets into the next one like that and now I’m going to do four double
crochets in a row again so four double one double crochet in each of the next
four stitches so there’s one two three and four and then two double crochets
into the next and I’m going to repeat that pattern all the way back around to
the beginning one double crochet in each of the next four stitches so there’s one two three four and then two double
crochets into the next and I’m going to repeat that all the way around until I
get back to the beginning okay I am coming to the end of row four
and I’m going to end up going to put two double crochets right here into my last
stitch and that’ll in that repeat and you should have a total of 96 stitches
all the way around counting this chain three and now what we’re going to do is
slip stitch into the top of our beginning chain three so go in and slip
stitch right into the top of it like that and now we’re going to do the
armholes so we’re going to chain three and turn our work now what we’re going to do is put one
double crochet into the next 14 stitches so starting right here with our first
one that’s one two three four five six seven eight nine ten eleven twelve
thirteen and fourteen so there’s fourteen and then counting
them as chain three they’ll be a total of fifteen so counting this chain three
two one two three four five six seven eight nine ten eleven twelve thirteen
fourteen fifteen and now what we’re going to do is chain two one two just
kind of loosely chain two and now we’re going to skip 19 stitches so skip the
next 19 one two three four five six seven eight nine ten eleven twelve
thirteen fourteen fifteen sixteen seventeen eighteen ninety now in the
next one we’re going to double crochet so with this chain two on our hook we’re
just going to yarn over and go into that one and double crochet and that is our
first arm hole right there and now we’re going to put one double crochet into we
want twenty eight stitches this is going to be our first double crochet so one two three four five six that was 27 and here is 28 so now what
we’re going to do is a loose chain of two again and we’re going to skip 19
stitches again 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 11 12 13 14 15 16 17 18 19 in the next one
we’re going to double crochet so with that chain to sue on our hook we’re
going to yarn over go into that next one and double crochet and now we’re going
to put one double crochet in the remaining stitches counting this one
there should be 15 remaining so there’s 1 2 3 4 okay once you make it to the end
here you should have a total of 58 stitches
now and that’s and that’s not counting these arms stitches yards these here and
then the ones around the front and then the ones right here and then you’ll have
these two chain two spaces of the arm now you want in by slip stitching into
the first and that chain 3 there at the beginning now we’re not going to be
turning our work anymore so for round 6 we’re going to start off with a chain of
3 and that counts as our first double crochet now we’re going to work one
double crochet and these next stitches until we get to the chain 2 space so one
double crochet in each of the stitches okay when you make it to that chain to
space what we’re going to do is we’re going to put four double crochet through
this whole big space here so just right through it but four double crochet so
there’s one two three and four and then we’re going to start again putting one
double crochet in every stitch starting with this very first one here sometimes
you got to slide these back to see it but right there you got we don’t want to
miss him and now one double crochet and every stitch until we get to the next
chain two space okay when you make it to your next chain
to space we’re going to do the same thing I’m just going to put four double
crochets right through the chain space so there’s one and two three and four
and now again we’re just going to one double crochet in every stitch to get
back to the beginning and pull these back in make sure you get
this one here sometimes it hides underneath loop stitches so one double
crochet and every stitch until you get to the end of your round and when you
get to the end you should have a total of 66 stitches okay when you made it
back to the beginning here which is the end you want to slip stitch into your
beginning chain three and make sure you have your 66 stitches and we’re not
going to turn any more remember like that and that is the yoke part of the
dress is finished now we’re going to start on the dress dress part or the
skirt part of the dress so for round seven we are going to chain a three and
that’s going to count as a double crochet now working them right back into
that same stitch that you slip stitched into what you want to do is put another
double crochet a chain one and then two double crochets so what we just did was
kind of like a bee stitch I call a double V stitch because I don’t know if
that’s what you really call it but because there’s two doubles chain one
and two doubles so now what we’re going to do is chain one and now we’re going
to skip one so pull this over a little bit and you’ll see that you got to skip
this one right here it kind of looks like it’s not a stitch but it is once
you pull it over so skip this one and in the next stitch we’re going to do this
again so we’re going to put two double crochets a chain a one and then two more double
crochets like that and now we’re going to chain one skip
one and do the same thing and so skip this stitch and then we’ll do that V
stitch again so two doubles chain one and two more doubles we’re going to
repeat this all the way around so chain one skip one and do the V stitch into
the next two doubles chain one eight two more doubles then we’re going to then
we’re going to do it again chain one skip one and v-stitch now I’m going to
repeat this pattern chain one and then two more doubles into that same spot all
the way around chain one skip one and then do that V stitch into the next chain one skip one and do the V stitch
into the next just like that and chain one skip one and continue and it’s going
to look like the really wavy and all bumpy and they’re supposed to look like
that because it’s going to make the dress more gathered up so it’s fuller
and that’s what you want so just kind of continue that all the way around if you
get back to the beginning okay once you make it back to the beginning you should
have one stitch left to skip make sure you chain one after that last V and then
we’re going to slip stitch into our beginning chain three and you should
have 33 of these V stitch sets now and now what we’re going to do is slip
stitch over to this chain one space of the first set so slip stitch into the
next double crochet and then slip stitch right in to that chain one space and now
what we’re going to do is we’re going to do another V stitch so I’m going to
chain three that’s how we this is the beginning v stitches to chain three and
then a double crochet a chain one and then two more double crochets right
through that chain space like that now what you want to do is do a chain of two
one two now I’m going to come down and I’m going to single crochet right in
between these next two V stitches single crochet and then I’m going to chain two
one two and now I’m going to do a V stitch again in the middle of the next V
stitch right here so I’m going to do two doubles chain one and then two more
doubles just like that again I’m going to do a
chain of two one two now I’m going to come right back down a single crochet
right here in between the next two V stitches then I’m going to chain two and
then I want to come over here and B stitch in the chain one space of the
next V stitch so two doubles chain one and two more doubles and that’s the
repeat of this time around super easy chain two single crochet in
between the next two V stitches just right straight through that space chain
two and then V stitch in the chain space of the next V stitch two doubles ten one
two doubles chain two single crochet in between the next two these stitches
chain two V stitch in the chain one space of the next V stitch so right here
and I’m just going to repeat this pattern all the way back around until I
get back to the beginning okay once you make it all the way around I just did my
last shell here and then you want to chain two and then single crochet
between your last two V stitches and then you chain two again and then you
end up by slip stitching into your first this first chain three the top of it and
now it’s just kind of a repeat of those two rows mine probably looks bigger because I
went ahead a little bit farther but and you just start the v-stitch around again
my slip stitching over two times to the center of this V stitch so there’s one
and two and then you chain three and then you double crochet back in that
spot chain one and then you put two double crochets back in that same spot chain one jump over to the next V stitch
space so skip all skip your chain twos and everything in that single crochet
and then revista CH right into that space so two doubles chain one and two
doubles chain one again skip all these stitches
here and be stitched right here into the center of your next V stitch and I’m
just going to repeat that all the way around so it’s just like around seven
we’re just doing it again chain one jump over to the next middle of the next V
stitch and V stitch again and you just repeat this all the way around and you
still should have 33 V stitches at the end of this round and at the end of
every round you should have 33 of the B stitches here when you make it all the
way around I just want to make sure you chain one after your last to be stitch
here and then you just end up by slip stitching into the top of this chain
three and now we just repeat the row before that and we just keep repeating
these two rows so we want to slip stitch over to the center of this V like that
chain three and then get B stitch in it so double crochet chain one and then two
more doubles and then we’re going to chain two single crochet right here in
between these two V’s chain two and then V stitch in the middle of this V stitch
so we’re just repeating the row before this and we’re just repeating in these two
robes that’s that’s all it is chain two single crochet again right in between
these two these chain two and then V stitch in between and chain one space of
the neck of the next V stitch chained to again single crochet in
between the next two V stitches chain two and then V stitch into the chain
space at the next V stitch and then we’ll just keep repeating those two rows
and that’s what it starts to look like after you get a few rows done okay I
went ahead into twelve rows of the V’s so starting with the very first row of V
stitches I did one two three four five six seven eight nine ten twelve yeah
twelve total and your last row should be where the V stitch is where we did the
chain to in between them and then all you want to do is end it like usual with
a slip stitch into that beginning chain three and tie it off and now we’re going
to switch colors here so I’m going to go to my edging color and I’m going to
start it sorry about that just right here where we left off I’m just going to
start it right here in the that V stitch space so what I’m going to do is chain three
and I’m just going to do a v-stitch in this beasted space so I’m going to do
another double crochet a chain one and then two more doubles like that
and I’m going to chain one and I’m going to jump over here to the next v-stitch
and give another v-stitch so I’m actually doing still repeating the same
B stitch rows I just switched to the white color so V stitch chain one come
back in and do your last two doubles so there’s your V stitch and then we chain
one in between and jump skip all this jump to the next B stitch and B stitch
in the middle of it two doubles chain one and two doubles just like that so
we’re still repeating for this round we’re just using the edging color now
jump over to the next V stitch and V stitch in the middle of it so I’m
going to continue this all the way around until I get back to the beginning
and you still should have 33 of these feed stitches when you get back around
okay here okay when you make it all the way around what you want to do is just
slip stitch here in the top of the chain 3 at the first V that and now we’re
going to slip stitch over to the middle of the first V just like we normally
would and now I’m going to do some shells around the bottom so once I’m
when I’m going to do is start off with the chain three which counts as a double
crochet and I’m going to go ahead and work six more double crochets through
this V stitch so there’s 1 2 three four five six so counting that
chain three we have seven double crochets and that’s what my shell is
going to consist of now I’m going to jump right here to the space in-between
this B’s and I’m just going to do a single crochet I’m not going to chain
them between them I’m just going to go right through it single crochet now I’m
going to go to the middle of my next beat and do seven double crochets one
two three four five six and seven now right in between them I’m just going to
single crochet right through and I’m just going to repeat this all the way
around right here in between my next shell I’m going to go in between my next
video my seven double crochet shell so one two three four five six seven single
crochet in between the next two V’s and shell right here into the next beat and
I’m going to repeat that all the way around and that is what it looks like
and when you get back around you should have 33 of these seven double
crochet shell stitches so 33 of these okay once you made it all the way back
around to the beginning and just did my last single crochet in between these two
V stitches I’m just going to slip stitch into my to chain 3 beginning chain 3 and
tie that off like that now you can hide any of them tails that
you want so there’s the main part of the dress done now I’m going to work on with
Steve’s just do something a little on the
sleeves in around faller okay for the sleeves I’m going to
be working in those 19 stitches that we skipped there’s the sleeve and also the
one here’s the 19 that we skipped I’m going to start in the one right before
it right there it’s got this double crochet hook to it I’m going to start in
that one I’m going to chain one now I’m going to go to the next one and single
crochet like that now I’m going to go to the next stitch and single crochet and
now I’m going to do a picot on this one so I’m going to chain three and I’m
going to come back down and slip stitch right here a lot of people slip stitch
into the very first chain I kind of grab this side stitch like that and that kind
of locks it down better and that’s going to form to point there like that little
round ball now I’m going to put a single crochet into the next stitch and then a
single crochet into the next one and then I’m going to do my picot on this
one so I’m going to chain three and then come back down and slip stitch I grab
that one and the side like that slip stitch and that will form your Pico and
I’m going to repeat this around the sleeve so I’m my single crochet into the
next stitch and then single crochet into the next one and it’s only my Pico so
I’m going to chain three and then slip stitch right there
it’s like the single crochet into the next single crochet into the next and
then picot on this one shut that single crochet into the next
and then single crochet into the next and picot on this one and you want to
repeat this so you get to the other side of the sleeve okay when you’re coming to
the end I just did a picot I’m a single crochet into the next stitch and now my
last stitch will be this stitch over here on the other side that has the
double crochet hook to it you can see the double crochets in that stitch and
I’m just going to slip stitch into that stitch like that and then I’m going to
tie that off and both sleeves are going to be made the exact same so you just
tie this off and you do the same on the other sleeve okay once you get both the
sleeves done we’re going to do the same thing around the top so I’m going to
start to work the back your work facing you and start right here and work around
this way so starting in this very very first stitch here that our knots kind of
up knots in you kind of luzon up so I can get in there something not starting
in that very first one I’m just going to do the same thing we did around the
sleeves I’m going to chain one and now I’m going to single crochet into the
next stitch turn this a little bit and then single crochet into the next stitch
and picot on that one single crochet into the next single
crochet into the next and picot on that one so just like we did on the sleeves
I’m just doing it on the neck single crochet into the next single crochet
into the next and picot and I’m going to do that all around the neckline all
around here until I get back over here to the other side okay once you make it
all the way the other side I just did a picot and then my last stitch here is
actually kind of this little chain thing here just slip stitch into the top of it like that and then we’ll flip that yarn
off and we’re going to go ahead and hide all of our tails real quick I’m going to
go hide and go ahead and hide mine okay once you get all your tails hidden all I
do is I take my regular thread and needle and I sewed on a ribbon nose and
then I use my ribbon and I just weaved it over and under every stitch of the
one two three four five of the seventh round there the last one underneath the
sleeves and then you want to sew on your hook and eye closure to the back and
