Blue thread is of single crochet pattern In stitch tutorial videos, we have seen how to make the next line from chain stitch row In this video, we are going to learn how to jump across rows while crocheting To start off with making a slip knot and do some basic chain stitches (for sample I am making 10 stitches) 1…2….3…..4…..5……6…..7……8……9…..10 In Half Double crochet, to start off from chain to new row, we leave behind 2 stitches and start crochet from 3rd loop For half double crochet, yarn over once, and leave behind 2 stitches and start from the 3rd loop Insert the hook into the 3rd loop, take the thread out Now there will be three loops in the hook. Yarn over and take the thread out of all the three loops in the hook. That’s it, we have made the half double crochet stitch If you see here, the 2 stitches left behind will make the first stitch in the new row. The next one which we crocheted now will be the second stitch in the new row Repeat the same Yarn over once, insert the hook into the next loop, take the thread out and take the thread out of all the three loops in the hook Let me continue until the end of this row I have uploaded a separate video on how to crochet half double stitch. You can refer to it if there are any doubts Half double crochet into the last loop First row of half double crochet is complete To start a new row, turn your work and make two chain stitches. For single crochet, we will do only one chain stitch Previously chain row was the base for our new row. In this row, the one which resembles hair plait will be the base for our next row First two loops seen are the first two chain stitches I made initially. The third stitch will be the first loop into which we have start crochet for the new row Insert into the gap seen below the braided hair row For half double crochet, yarn over and insert into the gap you can see that the ‘V’ thread should be above your hook, yarn out and make a half double crochet The above surface will act as the base for the new row This 2 chains, in the beginning, will be your first stitch in the new row and one we made now will be the second stitch Let me repeat till the row-end Insert the hook into the gap, make sure V is above the hook and make a half double crochet. Let me repeat till the row-end Half double crochet is the successor of single crochet In place of leaving a chain or adding a chain in case of single crochet, for half double crochet make it as two chains. This is the only difference with respect to single crochet The last stitch will be on the chain stitches we left in the chain row. Insert into the first loop on top and make the half double crochet We are done with the second row For the next row, turn the work and for half double crochet make two chain stitches Continue to crochet the next row consider the below line as the base Insert the hook into the loop gap, make sure V shape thread is on the hook and continue similarly Repeat the same until you reach the required height Thank You !!!
